大葉大學代理校長顏鴻森投入古機械復原設計研究超過30年，著作「Reconstruction Design of Lost Ancient Chinese Machinery」針對失傳古機械復原提出系統化方法，獲頒美國機械工程師學會2021年工程歷史學家獎。
